Facebook & MySpace each have their own instant
messaging systems, but with the kind of marketing I
am teaching you here, you don't want to get into the
habit of using them while you are doing business.
It's ok to use them for
personal reasons, but while you are building your
list of friends in Facebook and MySpace, you want to
be able to keep track of the conversations you have
with people.
And, here is why. Remember
in my last Social network training video, I
mentioned that there are 12 questions you want to
use in order to qualify the individuals that you
speak with.
Well, using the internal
messaging system will not save the conversations,
but the external messaging systems will. If you want
to use the internal messaging tools, then I suggest
that you copy and paste all of your conversations to
a text file of some sort because you are going to
want to track your conversations.
MySpace:
To download MySpace
Messaging:
1. Go to More
2. Click on IM
3. Click on"More about MySpaceIM for Windows
".
4. Click on Dowload Now button
If you notice, the last
version update was on 12/1/09. If you have an older
version, you can download this version to get the
latest.
Also, notice, MySpaceIM runs
on Windows 2000, XP, and Vista. It does not run on
Mac. If you have a Mac, then you are going to need
to use Yahoo Messanger.
After downloading and
installing the MySpaceIM tool, you should see THIS
icon.
Make sure that once it is
installed, that you go to File --> Keep Message H
istory
is checked.
Facebook:
For Facebook, you are going
to use a different tool. That tool is called Digsby.
To download and install
Digsby, just go to Digsby.com or google "Digsby".
One thing I will add here.
With Digsby, it is not as intuitive as MySpaceIM, in
my opinion. Since you want to use this tool as a
means of communication with your Facebook friends,
you not only want to add Facebook to the "Social
Networks" section, but you will also need to add "Facebook
Chat" to the IM Accounts.
Like MySpaceIM, you can
customize the look and feel of Digsby to your
liking.
