The Eight Characteristics Of A Leader
This week I am going to focus on the topic of leadership.
I chose this topic because I think having leadership skills is also important as marketing, sales, and communication is for establishing a successful business.
A while back, I remember receiving an email that contained an article written by Hank Marquis, CTO of itSM Solutions, LLC. The article targeted mainly the technical industry, but I believe that the content of this article can also be applied to any industry, including network marketing, mlm, and home based businesses.
The article mentions that four out of five workers say they feel stressed before they even get to work. The top reason listed is “lack of support, increasing pressure, interruptions, and bullying behavior” from their direct manager.
The report also lists other reasons. They include: workload, feeling undervalued, deadlines, type of people have to work with, having to take on other people’s work, lack of job satisfaction, lack of control over the working day, having to work long hours, and frustration with the working environment.
Below is a list of the 8 characteristics of an effective leader:
1. Leadership means focusing on the needs of other, not yourself.
2. Leadership comes from your actions, not your title.
3. Leadership makes you accountable, even if it is not your fault.
4. Leadership is not a 9-to-5 activity.
5. Leadership takes trust from your followers.
6. Leaders get their best ideas from their team.
7. Leadership thrives on diversity.
8. Leadership comes from continuous communication.
People will tend to see you as a leader when you pay attention to their needs. By listening to their needs and addressing their issues, you demonstrate leadership.
The next time you are dealing with someone who has joined your business or purchased a product from you, keep in mind that the 8 characteristics of a leader. People will only stay around when they feel that their needs are being met. Your business is not about you, but is about those whom you serve, which are your customers and your business associates.

There are so many ways in which to generate an income from home. One of the ways is through network marketing. In fact, network marketing is one of the best money makers because it allows you to generate residual income. Do it once and get paid forever, as the saying goes.
A good network marketing company can provide a full time income by working from home part time. With an income opportunity and help from an established, reputable internet marketing company, an online entrepreneur can learn numerous ways of marketing and generate a good steady income from multiple streams.
One key element to establishing success in the home business industry is to not become a member of a home based business just because of the money. The reality is money is not enough to keep you involved in your business. Why? Because as a business person, you are going to experience mistakes and even failures. Those who just want the money, most often either quit and look for another opportunity or they quit forever. A true entrepreneur will tend to learn from his or her mistakes and keep moving forward. The mistakes and failures are the instruments, so to speak, that gauge whether you are doing something wrong or right. Learning is what every entrepreneur will do for the entire time he or she has a business. There is no graduation for entrepreneurs. In addition, the the mistakes and failures will give you the skills you need to develop a business and it will strengthen you. Building a business is difficult, so you need the strength; and the strength I am referring to is mental strength. Running a business is 95% mental and 10% physical. Be sure you do the things to address your mindset so that your thinking is in the right place at all the times.
But, “Why do so many people fail in home businesses or network marketing?” To answer this question, lets ask ourselves, “How many new home based business owners have experience with running a business?” Another question to ask ourselves is “How many know how to market a business?” More than likely very few have any experience at all with having a business of their own and have no skills in marketing. This is one of the primary reasons most people fail in network marketing or a home business.
Without skills, it is a guarantee that you will fail. Skills are crucial to your business success. I know many companies offer trainings of some sort, but the truth of the matter is, the training received by many of their members in these companies is poor and even worst, do not work. Unfortunately, many of these companies know that many of you are going to fail, but they also know that there are those who will succeed and these are the ones the company will generate a huge profit. So, what do you do? Where can you get these skills? I suggest becoming a member of a marketing system. If you use primarily offline marketing and you are experiencing success with it, then by all means continue to use it, but keep in mind, not everyone is going to want or feel comfortable using promotional methods that you use. It is good to be able to offer alternative marketing strategies to members in your business. If you are interested in learning how to use the internet to market your business, then there is good news. There are many marketing systems that are available. You just have to shop around and try them out. See which one works best for you. Not all of them are the same.
To help you make the right choices in selecting a marketing system, here are some things to look for:
1. Trainings should be in video format. This makes it easier to learn because you can replay, watch, and learn whenever you want.
2. There should be available a sales funnel, which is a way for you to generate an income while you are honing in on your marketing skills. Which is great! No more staying poor and spending your own money on your marketing. You can now generate an income to either put back into your business or place into your bank account If you get good at generating leads, you can generate a full-time income using the sales funnel. Usually the marketing system provides trainings on how to setup your funnel. If they don’t, look for another marketing system. Engaging in research on the various marketing systems could very well lead to your success, so be selective. This is your business and you want to make the best choices for it.
3. There should be webinars at least once per week and in some cases, twice. For those who are not able to attend the webinars, the marketing system should place a recorded version of the webinar into your back office, so you can view them when it is convenient for you. Not everyone is on the same time schedule.
4. Support from the network marketing training system should also be available. You should be able to get support by entering a ticket or by calling or both. You should not have to learn how to market online alone. In fact, it is better that you become a member of a online marketing system. Learning on your own will be very difficult and it will take longer for you to learn the correct marketing skills.
5. Lastly, you should be open to learning new skills and be self-driven, which means have a strong reason why you want a business. When situations in you life become difficult, your reasons for wanting a business, other than just money, will be the driving force to keep you going. Not everything is going to work out perfectly. This is not a perfect world, so learn to go with the flow, learn how to find solutions to your own problems in your business and in your life, and learn to trust yourself and believe in yourself.
Learning how to make money from home takes time and effort. If you are looking for the quick fix or get rich quick schemes, there are very few that are legit. Many people who become members of such a system, walk or run feeling disappointed and usually are more broke than they were when they first got started. There are many network marketing businesses on the internet to choose from. Do your research and find one that you think you will enjoy and is legitimate. I always suggest that an individual should select a company that has been around for a while; especially if you are new to the network marketing industry. Once you have learned the ropes of running a business using the internet and you are generating an income, then you can start searching for other businesses, even new launches, but be prepared for disappointments. Not every new home business will survive in network marketing. This industry is a tough industry, not only for the participants, but also for the network marketing companies.
One last suggestion I want to offer is, give yourself time to learn about running and marketing a business. Be patient. Your time will come, and do not worry about the performances of others. Your focus should be on learning and getting skills in marketing. Do not give up just because things get difficult. Building a business is supposed to be hard. If it were easy, then everyone would be doing it. If you are starting a business of your own or have a business of your own, keep in mind that you have chosen the path least traveled. There is no better time to start a business making money at home. Working for you will enable you to eliminate the day to day stresses that having a job brings. Bare in mind one additional thought, “Successful people do what unsuccessful people won’t do”. Work hard at being Successful!

Having wealth is really a state of mind. Few people get rich or acquire wealth instantly. Most people who become rich grow rich;, and the growth and development of a personal fortune is sometimes rarely noticed by the busy man or woman, who is almost unconsciously growing rich.
Acquiring money and prosperity is simple and an easy process. Growing rich comes through habits that are part of one’s daily routine that, once on the road to wealth, it would be difficult, if not impossible, to stop the wealth.
The poor usually spend more than what they earn or spend all that they earn. The truth of the matter is, wealth building is within the reach of all of us, but not everyone can be rich, but you and I can.
So, you want to know what are the wealth building secrets. I think you will be surprised by what I have to say on this subject matter. First, money does all kinds of things. It gives and takes away, it makes honest men and a humble servants, fools and philosophers; and so on.
But is having money wealth? The number of men and women who currently are creating wealth is incredible. But money is not wealth.
Earning thousand of dollars may bring nothing to any one unless it is spent while one lives, thus allowing him or her to enjoy more fully the good things in life. The first good thing is that we all should have comfort and independence as long as we live; meaning saving money. But the reality is maintaining prosperity is harder than acquiring prosperity.
Today it is much easier to make money. Intelligence and business ability come in strongest when a decision is made on how to spend money. Shall it be spent on buying expensive cars, homes, vacations, etc? Or shall it be spent on buying necessities that will last and is also allowing one to buy capital?
Every day the choice is before every one of us. Here is money. Shall I buy luxury or shall I buy more capital? We cannot do both.
The difference between the rich man and the poor man is displayed by the differences in what he or she buys with his or her money. The rich man has bought wealth and position. The poor man has bought trash.
But, Socrates, a great philosopher, asks the following question, “How is it that some live in abundance, and have something to spare, while others can scarcely obtain the necessities of life, and at the same time run into debt? Isomachus replies with an answer, “because the former occupy themselves with their business, while the latter neglect it.
The secrets to building wealth is really not a secret, it is just common sense. You have before you many ways to wealth creation, and it is going to depend on whether you want build wealth or become poor. Those who are poor think of life as a glass to be drained instead of measured to be filled.
Essentially, wealth building secrets relies on your ability to discern what you do with your money. Being poor is not a normal state of being and can easily be overcome by any one who has the will to grow.
Here is a quote by James Russell Lowell, “Wealth may be an excellent thing, for it means power, leisure, and liberty.” So, who determines wealth, YOU, by making the right choices and not the wrong choices.

Elderly Gentleman Needs Help

Hello Everyone,
My name is Lawren and I need some suggestions from all of you. I will try to not make this story too long. I was on the phone with this individual for about an hour. The story goes like this. I have been working with a gentleman who has a website that sells water heaters. He paid a lot of money to have someone or some company optimize his website so that it shows up high on the search engines. The problem is he has not made a dime and he is frustrated; especially after spending so much money on getting the website and then paying for this SEO service.
He is in his 60′s and retired. His wife is also retired and they both live alone. He wants to use his website to make some additional income.
This past Saturday, he called me and told me his current situation. What I am about to tell you is essentially how our conversation went. First he told me that he was getting 100 leads per day. I immediately got excited for him because many people cannot even get 10 and I told him this. He told me that the individual who had helped to optimize his website did something and this lead to an increase in the number of leads. But, something told me to dig a little further into what he meant by leads. As it turned out, the leads were not prospects in the sense that someone has put in their name and email address in a webform, the leads were hits on his website. I found this out when I asked him “Do you have a form on your website for your prospects to fill out?” His response was, “What’s that?” Just based on this I knew he was experiencing a problem most new network marketers encounter. Even I encountered this when I first got started. Put up a website and wait for the visitors to come and purchase your products. It never happened and out of frustration, I gave up.
Next, I explained to him that most people will not make a purchase the first time. This is why it is important that you build a relationship with them and one of the best ways to do this is to use an autoresponder. He seemed to know what an autoresponder was. Then I told him he could write the sales letters himself or pay for a service to do this for him. He then wanted to know how he was going to get the letters into the autoresponder. I offered to help him, when or if he decides to use an autoresponder.
Next, I asked to see his website. It wasn’t bad. It displayed and explained some of the products on the site; your typical ecommerce website. He was using PayPal to handle the purchases made. But the website was also very busy, meaning, while it was focused on water heaters, the information given wasn’t. It explained about the various water heaters, what they can do, the price, and so on. There were tabs here and there and this kind of setup within a website will, often, case the prospect to immediately leave. I preceded to explain to him that he has only 3 seconds to catch the attention of the prospect. If you are unable to do this, then you have lost them. I then added, that because he does not have a webform to capture the prospects information, he has given himself just one opportunity to make a sell and the odds are against him that this will happen; especially for a person like himself who is new to running a business online. Because the site had so much information on it, it more than likely it dissuaded the prospects from looking further. Thus, those hits on his website were probably people browsing. They took a look at his website for a bit and then quickly moved on to the next website. He agreed, but he wanted to know what he could do to solve this problem. I told him that it would be best to use a capture page, where the information presented is focused on one topic, not too long but not too short. It gives just enough information to lure the prospect in to put his or her name into the webform. I added that aweber has a way for him to easily create a webform and use the “raw code” to place into your website. (I am pretty sure I lost him here, but he didn’t say anything).
After explaining to him about capture pages and showing him one of mine so that he could get a better understanding of what a lead capture page was and actually see a webform on the capture page, I asked about what keywords he was using. My reason for this is I wanted to determine whether the keywords were money keywords or browser keywords. Often this too will prevent you from making money because most browsers are not looking to buy anything. When we entered the keywords to see if we could find his website, we could not find it anywhere on the first page for any of the keywords he mentioned. This very much upset him.
Once he discovered this, he was ready to get off the phone and talk to his SEO dude. He said that he took notes of everything we talked about and would probably call me to get more help from me. I replied that I would gladly help him.
In retrospect, I am willing to create a capture page for this gentleman and help him get his funnel setup at no cost. It isn’t because I am not busy because I am an extremely busy person, but when I see a situation like this where an older gentleman is being taken advantage of, it very much upsets me. Thus, I help him and we talk for about an hour at a time with me giving him pointers. We have talked about 3 or 4 times now. I still don’t see him doing anything with my suggestions, which is ok. At least he has the information and if or when he becomes overwhelmed and extremely frustrated, we will get started with setting up a sales funnel for his business.
My question to all of you is this. First, do you think I am handling the problem correctly? Second question is do you see anything else that might benefit this sweet man. At this time, I have kind of run out of ideas because, thus far, he has not done anything with my suggestions, but is always pleased to get my help and even takes notes. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Family Holidays: Tips for Having A More Enjoyable Holiday

What do you like to do on family holidays? Go to the beach or spend a week in the country? Maybe you like camping or visiting relatives. Whatever you enjoy, family holidays are a chance for everyone in the family to get reacquainted and spend quality time together. It’s a chance for parents to really talk with their teens and find out what’s going on in their lives. It’s important to keep the communication lines open, and a family holiday is a good time to do that. Having a good relationship with their parents is one of the most important factors in keeping teens out of trouble.
Studies have shown that when families take holidays together, they are more likely to eat together and are less likely to argue. They do not watch as much television because they are involved in doing things together. Kids even report that their parents seem to act differently while on holiday.
While family holidays are a good time to connect with your kids, communication problems that are already there will not automatically disappear. Especially with teenagers it is important to listen and be flexible. Find out what the kids would like to do and eat and plan accordingly. While even teenagers need boundaries, it is important for parents to try to avoid needless confrontation. Explain why you make the decisions you do and show them positive attention.
Kids will appreciate being included in travel plans. There’s a good chance they will choose a theme park or the beach if those are among the options. Sometimes it works well for a teenager to take a special friend along on family holidays. While this might increase the parents’ load, the teen is likely to really appreciate it. Also, sometimes it works well for kids to go on holidays with their grandparents instead of their parents. Sometimes there is a special relationship here that can help kids open up and communicate about their concerns.
While on family holidays, if teens are uncooperative or behave improperly, try to deal with the problem in private. Teens are very aware of embarrassment and it is needlessly mean to exploit this sensitivity. In fact, you might explain to the kids how their behavior embarrasses you, and they in turn might work harder at getting along and acting appropriately.
Kids will be happier on family vacations if they have snacks, drinks, and entertainment. Few kids enjoy a long ride in the car! Try to provide individual CD players or hand-held video games, and don’t forget to take plenty of bathroom stops. Sometimes kids enjoy the ride more if they can help you follow the map. This is an educational activity for them as well. By following these suggestions, your family holidays can make a happy memory.

Jim, How He Went From A Burned Out MLM Failure To Earning 5-Figures Per Month
